@LovelySummeRayne: it almost seems english is that universal language you're refering to. Just an observation
Yes, you're right. Ive observed this as well lol Also, if internationally, people are putting forth the effort to learn multiple languages to give them financial opportunities as well as other opportunities in other countries. We can at least learn one other language fluently...the language we're pretty much already sharing. We dont ever have to leave America to do that. It's like my sisters and I speak English. We're raised in the same household. Same parents. But, Im only going to choose to speak English whereas my sister learns to speak Spanish fluently. Then we go out to get a job and my sister makes great money because she learned to speak both and can also communicate at a bank, over the telephone, at a hospital etc and Im making good but could be making better simply by being more in tuned to cultural conditions happening within the country. Why not?

a very good point indeed. as i said we should have more than one language as a pre requisit and be at least halfway fluent before graduation. english IS the most difficult language in the world and alot is always lost in translation so it should still be a subject. im only semi fluent in spanish but im trying to learn japanese. not easy lol. but to be taught multiple languages opens so many more doors.
I agree, within America, it would give Americans more opportunities. I dunno about Japanese. I guess I would have to consider the long term opportunities of using it in everyday American life. Cause from what Im seeing daily, we are somewhat behind with what's happening right up under our noses lmao

not saying that Commonspeak should -replace- the older languages, merely fill in cultural and communication gaps. Very similar to the way Native American tribes used Scalagi (Cherokee common) to be able to speak to other tribes. And ppl think we were primitive -sigh- lol
I dont think all languages should be condensed into one language. I believe we have different languages for good reason...even different dialects. I just dont think learning the language we're exposed to daily will be crush American society lol

@LovelySummeRayne: Yea one laungage would be great but what would it be?A lot of people falsely believe english is the most commonly used laungage, but thats not the case.Population wise its whatever they use in india,it being the most highly populated place on earth, then theres secondly china.
It's funny you mention this. I can tell you.... I had an Indian gynecologist. So, his native language is Hindi. He used English probably way more than Hindi on a daily basis because he of course is working in America surrounded by English patients. But, guess what? He also spoke Spanish daily too and it broadened the scope of his patients in America.

one language under the sun would be awesome.... however, mankind is too stubborn for that. any fanatacal religioneeres, (just made that word up lol), will never drop the language they consider to be the tongue of god.
I cant imagine it. Everybody wanna be different but no one wants to be different Ug. If everybody all spoke one language, it would be hell on earth lol

@CGPhillips: humankind has survived and evolved for over a million years, created and destroyed nigh on countless empires, advanced technology to the point where extra-planetary colonization is a possibility and created forms of mass global communication(which we are using right now lol). So a new language shouldn be a huge deal. Besides, it would take three to five generations to really pick up anyway, as most ppl would assume it was just a fad or something like that.
Yes, exactly right. And we would have only ourselves to blame if we do not follow progression. If we fall behind, it would be because either we're too spoil and comfortable to put forth any effort or we are ignorant in knowing how America came to be what it is. Better to keep ourselves living in shoe boxes from fear of uhh...losing culture? Ummm...mk lmao

Why woulld we learn english as a second lanuage if we already speak it?
Hi April, thanks for posting girl. You're probably thinking of it as a second language in the same way second language is provided for foreigners who are learning English in America. Im not thinking of it in this way. American students should learn English but only for it's structures and scholastics...not how to think it and apply it. We already know how and manipulate it well I must say lol But, the majority of the rest of our school years are spent on literary and creative writing. The teachers half of the time grade on concept rather than grammatical structure. This should be the second language option. My belief is, if literature and creative writings and essays etc should remain a main part of school Spanish should be split with it. Not the entire session should be spent on English. Come on....

Well im not trying to start a argument on evulotion, theology,or anything like that.It be nice to do one laungage in a ways. But first wed have to have one government to enforce it,the religions would have to have their txtbooks translated into that laungauge. And if time has taught us anything people are sensitive about politics and religion.
and with what you said here, you know as well as i do the religious nuts will say its all the devils work cause thats exactly what the antichrist is supposed to do, unify the world to a one world order. i personally think itd better the human race but itll never happen.
Lawd Ham Mercy lol

If everybody in the world spoke the same language then that would mean that every country would lose a huge part of their cultural identity and to me that is just a terrible idea . I mean i already speak english as my first language even though its not my native tongue . gaelic is . and
I agree with a lot of your points as usual spacer but, there's always a damn dents in the road lol First of all, I can understand your position more than another American who is against having to acquire Spanish fluently. You've had to learn the language of a culture you are not directly a part of on a daily basis. Including not being exposed everyday to a variety of American dialects. Whereas, our country is right next door to a Spanish country also. South America to be exact. Our culture consist of a lot of the Spanish culture. So, we wouldnt lose much of anything really. We'll only submerge ourselves deeper into what's going on within the country.
