Electric dog fence? for this and the cold nights to come I Am not looking forward to these 2:30am trips around the house to go pee. I live in the woods and there is alot of wildlife smells and activities going on at all times. Do I risk the loss of my dog and purchase the Invisibale Dog Fence? Does certain weather or airwave activities effect it's power or worthiness? Or is it just tortureous to the dog?

Its humane. The dog will only be shocked a few times before learning the perimeter. I have many friends who use this and have never had any problems

And there has been NO RUN AWAY episodes? I've a high traffic St. Rt. about 3 country blocks from me and a live on a curvey lane that the young'ens like to speed along. This animal, had he not givin to me, would have cost up towards 1300$. He's a reg. working dog.

Only instances ive heard of are dogs who charge through the perimeter occasionaly and that can be fixed with some minor adjustments to output. If the dog has been made familiar with the perimeter there usually arent any problems. Only time ive seen it is when quite honestly the dog should be put down.

I've had him now for 5 days. he's still a pup 14m. .Grt. Dane and Gr. Shr mix. Still squats to pee and tries to hid the smell of his droppings. still skiddish about his new surroundings. He wants so bad to play w/the cats but they scare him. do you feel that the sooner I set this up the better for him or should I wait a bit longer to let him build more confidence?

@Twoinchheels: i just want to point out a few of the weakness of the invisible fence... 1. Instalation. 2. It ony works of the dog is with in range so if the dog is willing to take the shock and go far enough past it to be out of range ur dog is loose anyways... 3. Cost 4. It dont work on all dogs as mentioned above...the way they work is the collar will beep for a certian amount of time befor the shock comes as a warning so as not to shock dog for no reason. I find these fences work better for small breeds that are not super smart. A german shepherd or simular smart breed will learn the timing and be out of range befor the shock comes...it is diffrent for every dog and u take a chance of investing in somthing that dont work for your dog. Hope this helps.
