I would rather finish it
And have my say,
Than walk away
Never having put my foot down.

Maybe I can come off
A little crass,
And maybe I cross a line
Or two….
But I spent a long,
Long time…
Some might even say,
Most of my life…
Never speaking my mind.

Too afraid to stand up,
For myself.
Always feeling to small,
To insignificant,
Nothing more than a silly
Little child.

So now sometimes,
I go a little overboard.
Most people don’t know
My back story,
And never will.

So when I say what’s on my mind:
It means
I screwed up my courage,
Sucked in my breathe,
Closed my eyes
And let it out.

It means
I am facing my fears,
My demons,
And letting go of my past.

I can screw up,
And I can be wrong.
I can live with that,
What I can’t live with,
Is ever feeling so helpless
That I can’t say my mind,
Not ever again.
