Tired of the 'politically correct' (by Acire73)

Im not sure where to put this but here goes. My son goes to public autism school. He is being taught to say 'common age and before common age" instead of a.d. and b.c. Because of religious reasons. My problem is not with religious debate but with my son being taught that he has to learn to be politically Correct and the school promoting it without telling parents. The law changing it hasnt been passed yet, so am i wrong to be upset that i wasnt told they were teaching this?

Hi Acire, I do not have children but from what I read it's not about the pc (politically correct) way to me. I believe we do things for certain reasons and sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. So you have a right to hold your position. My thing is this, your child is under a teacher's care and guidance while at school. What the child is taught will affect him and the way he thinks about things in his future. Yes, I would have a big problem with that institution and teacher for not networking with me and keeping me informed about the needs and learning of the child. The parents need to know what's going on at all times so they can be sure that their child is a well-rounded individual.

Yeah i guess i am just tired of being stepped on and hearing its just being p.c. Maybe i dont care to be p.c. But no way they have the right to tell my child he has to be p.c. I am not strong in faith lately, but he is. And they are offending him.

I would say voice your opinion and get a few other moms who share your viewpoint to do the same. P.C. Is just another form of indoctrination and I don't agree with the way history gets changed, just bc of the falsehood of political correctness. Pretty soon we'll have no history to fall back on or to guide us thru life...Afterall if you don't voice then those politically correct think they can do it again and again. Be firm the future of your child's life and faith still lies in your hands as the mother. All the best from another Mom

Thanks. Just tired and venting. I just see it everywhere and i just think people try and find anything to be offended about. If god is that offensive at school then quit askin for money all the time cuz all my money has his name on it lol i think all who think up what is and isnt p.c. should get a hobby and relax
