And for the record, Im not advocating doing away with govt assistance.....especially for disabled vets...they shld be at the top of the list.....but to say that there isnt an abuse problem is ridiculous....I see it everyday.

The point is if you can afford to pay for cigs, drugs, beer ect than you shouldn't get food stamps. If your walking around with a brand new phone and new name brand clothing, you shouldn't get food stamps. Reality is MOST of the people on food stamps should not get them. MOST of the people make it a life long thing instead of finding a job when they can work. I've actually know a person who was offered a job but would not take it because it would take away her walfare benefits

The pot helps keep a tumor in check and keeps pain away so i can watch my children and my best friends comes over with that not my money. Cigarretes cost a buck a pack up here so my parents do that cuz it help with the stress of haveing to raise a family disabled with no money. I can tell none of yall were poor with a family u were responible for and completly helples about the situation after fighting for a selfish country...

It's like this....if you had to ask someone that you know to borrow money to buy food for your kids would you go to the store with them and buy steaks with their money? Or wld you wisely use what they loaned you to stretch it as far as possible so that they don't feel used? Food stamps are paid for by OUR money...I ain't gonna lie, if I go to the store and the woman in front of me has 4 kids with her and they are all wearing $100+ shoes and she is wearing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and climbs into a lexxus yet hpaid with EBT then yea I feel some resentment....my kids wear what I can afford and I sold every piece of jewelry that had value before I applied for foodstamps! So you can get on your high horse norest and claim that those of us asking for some comments sense in govt spending or you can be grateful someone is there to give you a hand up while you figure out how to provide for your family...I am disabled and have been in your shoes so I feel like I have the right to say my opinion on here.

@Noresttonight: noo I came from a poor family that was on drugs, got Foodstamps to trade for their drug problem, and me and my brother only got to eat at school or maybe a pack of Roman noodles a day and water to drink. It opened my eyes and made me decide I would never make excuses and live a life like that. I was a single mom of 3 kids and busted my ass doing whatever I needed to do so my kids can enjoy eating what they want or go places to have a good childhood. I have never smoked ANYTHING in my life and everybody has stress. I've had 2 housefires that I had to restart getting everything after. I had my baby die in my arms. I was raped at 14 and had a daughter. I had to watch my son suffer for a year not knowing if he would make it another day. But one thing I have never done was sit On my ass complaining and making excuses. I came up with a solution on how to better my life because it was up to me and only me. Yes I've had to get walfare before but it was for 6 months that's it.

I dont buy name brand food or steaks i budget my food stamps to get as much as i possibly can. Noone in my entire family has 100 dollars in clothing i hvnt been able to do laundry in over 3 months cuz we dont have money for that. And we can afford washing machines to do it at home. In our 1 br where me and my wife sleep in the living room on the floor so our kids can have a room of there own. Your all focusing on the people who are abusing the ebt and are making the ppl who need it and use it responibly feel even more like ****..way to go. Keep the poor people in their place right? Thats all im hearing here. And with that im out of this convo.
