Can I join in the discussion on here ? :)

I am from The Philippines where English language is considered as the precious language of all languages . As a non- English speaker I find it truly an advantage especially that no
Thank you so much for posting here and yes!! All viewpoints are welcomed here even though Im specifically seeking the details in American responses. Your post is a great example of the point Im making to. Even though you're filipino, living in Hong Kong, you would be able to leave either of your home countries travel to America and comprehend English and generally speak to an American citizen. And, this would place you at a greater advantage because not only could you speak English and get a job but get paid more if you work with both Americans and filipinos. This is what learning Spanish could do for Americans except we wouldnt necessarily have to travel outside the country for extra opportunities.

....but in other countries do they have to learn English?
Yes , we must learn English from preparatory & most of the subjects are teach in English . Some other languages are optional to learn though ..

Here in Hong Kong since they have 2 main languages ( Cantonese & Mandarin ) then English ( they adapt British English more ) is their 3rd language ..

I wouldn't want Spanish to be the language we should all learn. I am tongue-tied so I can't speak Spanish at all. I'm not sure if I could speak French...I don't think so. Haitian Creole is what I was TRYING to learn, but I never got to continue learning it. I only remember a few things. It is broken French though.
Hiya braindroppings :)) Well, I think it would be added as part of the school's core curriculum. I liked French because it was cute and easier on my tongue. It's not earning me extra money though and it certainly wouldnt do me any good to speak French to a Spanish person lol
