Paul, whatever, was an actor. Nelson Mandela was the leader of a nation. The first democraticly elected president of his nation. He had influence on the entire world. While Paul was indeed a good man, Nelson Mandela is a giant in history.
AMEN * Couldn't have said it better *

This might make me a few enemies but **** it! He had some good quotes on peace and justice but too bad his life didn't model his words. known ties to terrorist organizations, and many inhumane atrocities as a leader. I for one don't believe he was a good man at all.

I think what made him great in the eyes of many people around the world is his victory of bridging the gap between white and black in South Africa . He also suffered 27 years in the prison yet when he was out of the jail , he was unscathed of bitterness and was focus & determined about his passion of eliminating discrimination .

Of course , he had a life full of mistakes too as he was a normal human being, only with exceptional courage and intelligence ..

Bridged the gaps between blacks and whites? at one point he said he would hunt down and kill all whites is s.africa. and mistakes are not even close to the horror this guy imposed. i guess ill never understand peoples view on how an evil man could be considered good.

^ I don't know him personally & my knowledge about him is only from the books I've read & documentaries I've watched . There are always biases when informations are rely only from the media . But I, being born from the country which was once led by other races , I can only say , it took unfathomable courage for one person to stand & fought for the rights & freedom of others . Without his remarkable deeds , black people in S. Africa may still be the slaves of white people ..

Hmmm....I wouldn't go that far. I heard he changed the laws in prison (while in prison) and gave children hope although he wasn't able to raise his own.
