So i was at the bar and started talking to this girl and my buddy was talkin to her friend. i never asked her age cuz it's not something that's a big deal to me. but at some point my buddy must of told her i was 28 and im really 36. so her and i started texting and aftedr a week of alot of texting and talking the age thing came up. and when i told her i was 36 she said she couldnt talk to me anymore cuz she's only 22. i still dont get what the problem was. any advice?

First : you were dishonest

Second : to some , age does matter .. 14 years is somewhat a big age gap

Third: she was perhaps disappointed of you lying your age and just came up with an age excuse ...

Well ~~~ IMHO~~

Why lie in the first place.

My problem would be the lying part. I personally don't care about age that much, but I would prefer to date someone my age and older. I would date someone 36 or 38 years old if I really liked the guy. Just be honest, respectful and confident. Be yourself.

And on a side note why is it okay to date someone older when ur the female and not someone younger....i wldnt hesitate if i was interested in someone say 13 yrs older but but wld have to do some serious soul searching if he were 13 yrs younger.. hmmm

Yeah it was probably being dishonest to start off with. She may feel fooled. Try apologising, she may understand and you can start again.
Me I've mostly gone out with younger guys. My sons dad is 5 years younger. My early and mid 20s I went out with 18 or 19 year olds. But as I'm turning 30 next month I wouldn't go out with someone that young again. Oldest guy was 6 years older than me but didn't act it. He was and maybe still is the love of my life.
Personnel preference I wouldn't date anyone 6 years plus older than me.

@JLaDawn: I think it comes down to maturity and what you're looking for at this point in your life. Right now, I'm ready to settle down. I'm looking for someone who knows who he is, what he wants for his life, and is serious about friendship and love. Based on my experience, it's just hard to come across a guy younger than myself, who is truly able to take that on. And I know older guys can be like that too lol, but it seems like there's a slightly slimmer chance....but I don't know.
