Safe bottled drinking water? (by Reinmaker56)

Watched a show other day bout bottled water. Did you know that people who sell it test it for safety they provide their own test results to prove its safe to drink.

Thats problem too but they are not under any restrictions by fda because they make it and sell it in each state so they do there own test.

Rein, again, you miss the mark. Most industries police themselves. You could say the exact same about chemical plants, paper mills (I'm all too familiar with saftey regulations for both). Nearly all manufacturing does the same thing. Since water doesn't fall under a hazardous chemical heading under the MSDS (Material Saftey Data Sheet), PSM (Process Saftey Management) wouldn't apply. And even if it were to fall under that, the government would still allow the industry to regulate itself. Water bottling still falls under the FDA, and would be subject to it's regulations...the FDA just allows them (again, like most manufacturing) to police themselves. The fact that millions of units of bottled water are used daily and little to no ill effects is proof the system is working.

Oh well when they run out of water to put in the bottles wonder what they will do then.
